I am working with porcelain now. I made some teapots and some trays. This clay is a little difficult to finish. Touching the rims of the trays resulted in cracking. I am trying slow drying to see if that can be fixed. The look of the teapots are fun. Both trays and teapots are slab built. Trying a slab technique I learned at Watershed. It involves taking a slab and pushing a form onto it while the slab is resting on a piece of foam. The rims have come out nicer and it separates from the form faster, than usual slump or hump molding. We will see how it fires. I recently entered the Central Maine Clay Artists Mug sale. We are showing and selling in local coffee shops in Gardiner, Augusta and Winthrop. This sale is to show us off a little and to raise money to help the art departments of area schools. A sample below of my mugs.
